Thanksgiving 2015
......couldn't have arrived at better time. I literally had the week from hell, and we will definitely be writing about that later. My heart was soooo happy to see Boy1 home, giggling like a school girl as he scooped me up in a big hug. Of course he came over to momma's ( where I was house-sitting) with his best friend, and my part time son Sam. (he's officially my son now because he saw me in mommas duster..lol) ... Oh the banter of young adult and teenage "boys", suitcases open, clothes everywhere; and the swaps. The arguing and the repositioning of brotherly order, yeah I love it.
A late decision to travel home to Memphis turned out to be the best one ever❤. So many traditions have fallen off since our Patriarch and Matriarchs have transitioned. I traveled with my crew minus Boy1, who felt this would be a great time to make a stance based on his feelings being hurt. (Selfish ass, bad move, broke my heart, damn near killed momma) nonetheless the Winters/Buford clan journeyed on! Great drive with both co-pilots comatose 1 hr into the ride, leaving me with a 4 1/2 hr carcert. My big warm neck scarf doubling as a wrapp around the head pillow for one, and a turtle neck for the other; reminding me of how much they love their momma.
We arrived safely the day before and had a glorious time preparing for the Holiday. Watching the Golden Girls in action was hilarious! My mother and her sisters are some bossy chicks, my aunt and I drank spiked coffee and ate fresh sweet potato pie for breakfast, while my mom ran all the errands, and my aunt Bonnie and I cracked jokes and reminisced through old photos. Of course my 81 year old auntie Gert cooked the ENTIRE dinner, and would not let ANYONE else in the kitchen. How at 48 am I still setting the table?
Thanksgiving day we had plenty of company!!! Ended up at dinner with 4 generations, and 18 guest. Honey the siblings were grinning from ear to ear,the senior cousins were making and taking Martinis, the junior cousins were playing cards and sneaking wine ( like we weren't doing the same thing at 19), I think Boy3 slipped through the cracks he was smiling way too hard! Afterall it is his last official TG as a High School senior, he said.
All in all a great time was had, a giant sleepover ensued, and a sad but necessary departure the day after! It had been over 5 years since we had ALL been together for a Holiday. Nothing can replace the comforts of home and Family is the greatest love of all♥.
